John Silvanus Wilson Jr., executive director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), will discuss educational equity as part of a luncheon address at the Southern University Alumni Federation’s 2012 National Alumni Conference Thursday in Atlanta.

The conference, “65 Years of Service and Support to Southern University,” commemorates the Southern University Alumni Federation’s founding in 1947. Hundreds of SU alumni, known as Southernites, are expected for the five-day event, some from around the world.

In his remarks, Wilson will discuss alumni support and educational equity in the context of current challenges and opportunities facing the nation’s 105 HBCUs.
