U. S. Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter will host a Town Hall on college affordability at Northeastern University at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, May 8, in Boston, Mass. Organized by the American Council on Education, the Town Hall will be a discussion with students, faculty, administrators, and other interested members of the community on tackling rising college costs to ensure that America’s students can obtain the education they need to prepare for jobs of the 21st century. Kanter will discuss the Obama Administration’s efforts to expand access and keep college affordable, as well as the shared responsibility of states, institutions, and the federal government to expand access and keep costs manageable.
While in Boston, Kanter will also engage with higher education, business and community leaders in a closed-press meeting. These discussions are part of a series of conversations that senior Obama Administration officials are having with higher education leaders around the country on the importance of holding down college costs.
