U.S. Special Education Leaders to Address National Association of State Directors of Special Education

Top officials at the U.S Department of Education involved with programs that serve infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities will address the 74th Annual Conference and Business Meeting of the National Association of State Directors of Special Education Monday in Chicago.

Alexa Posny, assistant secretary for the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, and Melody Musgrove, director of the Office of Special Education Programs, will engage in a question and answer session with the special education state directors. They will discuss reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act along with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and other topics related to America's children and youth with disabilities.

The Education Department's Office of Special Education Programs administers programs aimed at helping the nation's more than 6.6 million children and youth with disabilities achieve their education potential.
