U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will host a community town hall at 5:30 p.m. PT Tuesday, Oct. 11, at El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera, Calif. He will join community members, including teachers, parents and students, to learn about local efforts to improve education and to discuss the Administration’s commitment to invest in education from cradle to college and career.
During the town hall, Duncan also will provide an overview of the American Jobs Act and discuss how it will modernize public schools, prevent teacher layoffs, and support efforts to provide students with a 21st century education. U.S. Rep. Grace Napolitano and Superintendent of El Rancho Unified School District Myrna Rivera Cote will join the town hall. A brief media availability will follow the event.
