U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will deliver keynote remarks at the National Congress of American Indians Executive Council winter session on Tuesday, March 6, in Washington, D.C. He will address the Department’s continued commitment to improving educational opportunities and resources for American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian students, and share how these priorities were derived from consultations and listening-and-learning sessions throughout Indian country.

This year’s winter session will take place March 6 – 8, and will focus on legislative issues facing members of Congress, as well as the Administration’s agenda in the upcoming year. The meeting will provide an opportunity for tribal leaders and advocates to discuss current legislative priorities. The National Congress of American Indians’ mission is to inform the public and Congress on the governmental rights of American Indians and Alaska Natives. It is the oldest, largest and most representative American Indian and Alaska Native organization serving the broad interests of tribal governments and communities.
