U.S. Education Secretary Duncan to Speak at Launch of “All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development”

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will join U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Rajiv Shah at the “All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development”“; launch on Friday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. in the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. Duncan will discuss the importance of nations working together to improve literacy. Alex Trebek will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

In order to improve student reading outcomes and access to future economic opportunities, USAID and its founding partners will work to find innovative ways promote literacy among children in the primary grades, in low-income countries. Founding partners-USAID, AusAID and World Vision-have committed over $20 million for this challenge to promote childhood literacy around the world.
