U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will honor 15 outstanding high school students who have made impact in communities across the world during Parade’s All-America High School Service Team Celebration at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9. The event, which is co-sponsored by generationOn, will be held at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.
Duncan’s remarks will focus on the importance of public service, particularly highlighting its value when integrated with education. The ceremony will be followed by a forward-looking discussion about the critical role of youth service as a lever in the education system and as a force for changing the world. The conversation will surface critical issues and propose ideas to inform a set of policies and priorities to support service in schools and empower young people.
