U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will travel to Dallas on Tuesday where he will visit a local high school, hold a press availability with Dallas' mayor and school superintendent and address a business luncheon.
At 9:15 a.m., Duncan will join Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and Superintendent Mike Miles in touring classrooms at L.G. Pinkston High School in west Dallas. Pinkston is part of a new cradle-to-graduation partnership among the Dallas Independent School District, Southern Methodist University and nonprofit organizations to boost academic progress by increasing early childhood educational opportunities, improving teaching and learning and engaging parents in their children's development.
A press availability at the school will follow at 10:25 a.m.
At 11:45 a.m., Duncan will deliver remarks on the condition of American education to a luncheon of business leaders at the Omni Hotel Dallas, hosted by WorkforceSolutions of Greater Dallas.
