U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will give remarks at the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) luncheon at noon Monday, Oct. 24, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C. He will discuss the important role that CFC plays in these tough economic times and the need to give now more than ever. This year, the CFC named Duncan its honorary chair.
Last year, the CFC National Capital Area (federal employees, postal workers and military personnel in the Washington, D.C. metro area) raised $67 million for people and communities in need. This year, the goal has increased to $67.2 million, and donations are being accepted through Dec. 15. President Kennedy established the CFC in 1961 to help people in local communities, across the nation and around the world.
