U.S. Education Official to Participate on Panel at Education Innovation Summit 2012 in Scottsdale, Ariz

Jim Shelton, assistant deputy secretary for the Office of Innovation and Improvement, will participate in a panel discussion on social and mobile learning as part of Education Innovation Summit 2012 hosted by Arizona State University Tuesday, April 17, in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Shelton will join teachers, education investors and public officials at the conference where he will take part in a panel entitled, “How are the megawaves of social and mobile impacting education?” For more on the summit, see http://edinnovation.asu.edu/.

As assistant deputy secretary, Shelton’s Office of Innovation and Improvement makes strategic investments in innovative educational programs and administers more than 25 discretionary grant programs. Among them: the Investing in Innovation (i3) Fund, the Promise Neighborhoods program, Charter Schools Program; Fund for the Improvement of Education; Parental Options and Information; Technology in Education; and Teacher Quality Programs.
