Suzanne Immerman, director of strategic partnerships at the U.S. Department of Education, will participate in the 27th annual conference of the Grantmakers for Children, Youth and Families (GCYF) Tuesday in El Paso.
Immerman will serve as a moderator for a pre-conference institute entitled, “A Promising Future is a Safe Future.” The program will explore systems and partnerships to better serve the needs of men and boys of color and what grantmakers should know in the effort to grow strong and healthy families of diverse cultural backgrounds. The session also will consider the opportunities and challenges involved in breaking intergenerational cycles of poverty and achieving economic stability through targeted investments in education, housing, access to healthcare and public safety and initiatives that tackle the complex social issue of youth violence.
GCYF works to promote effective grantmaking that integrates research, policy and practice to bring about systemic change for children, youth and families.
