U.S. Deputy Secretary Tony Miller will discuss the importance of understanding key data and learning best practices from the highest-achieving nations at Harvard University’s Program on Education Policy and Governance (PEPG) event, “Lessons from the International Experience: Lifting U.S. Students to World-Class Levels of Performance.” Miller will give the opening keynote address of the two-day conference, which will convene academic experts, federal, state and district-level policymakers, and nonprofit leaders. He will speak at 6:30 p.m. at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.
The PEPG conference will examine whether U.S. students are ready to compete in a global economy and is timed in conjunction with the release of a report from the PEPG and Education Next. Miller’s remarks will highlight the importance of using data to inform policy decisions and the need to understand what other nations are doing right in order to successfully improve academic achievement across America. Miller will take questions from the audience following his remarks.
