Karen Cator, director of the Office of Educational Technology, and Michael Robbins, senior advisor for nonprofit partnerships, will participate in The After School Corporation’s (TASC) Digital Learning Forum and Blended-Learning Working Group on Wednesday, July 27 in New York. Cator will provide an overview of the National Education Technology Plan during the morning forum, and then join Robbins in the afternoon to cohost a closed-press discussion with community-based organizations (CBOs) on blending online and site-based learning.
In addition to Cator, representatives from corporate America, foundations, public education, and media will share the dais with Cator as featured speakers for the morning forum. One of the goals of the forum is to bring together innovators, investors, policy-makers and thought-leaders with educators and youth developers to highlight the potential for using time out of school to bring next-generation learning to kids with the greatest needs. CNN’s Soledad O’Brien will moderate the event.
The afternoon working group of representatives from national nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, schools and districts, philanthropy, education policy and the education technology sector will devise an action agenda on improving learning opportunities through CBO-school partnerships that leverage blended learning. The working group seeks to translate ideas into actions that could lead to higher achievement, deeper student engagement, an infusion of human capital, and the next wave of education entrepreneurship.
