U.S. Department of Education Senior Official to Participate in Summit that Addresses Pressing Issues Facing State Legislatures

Chief of Staff Joanne Weiss will participate in a panel discussion at the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Legislative Summit Tuesday, Aug. 9, in San Antonio, Texas. During the session, “Collaborative School Reform: Building Partners for School Improvement,” Weiss will discuss the federal government’s role in building partnerships with states to drive school improvement. The four-day summit, which begins today and runs through Thursday, Aug. 11, will bring together legislators, legislative staff and policy experts from across the country.

The NCSL is a bipartisan organization founded to improve the quality and effectiveness of state legislatures and to promote policy innovation and communication among them. The organization provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues
