U.S. Assistant Education Secretary Carmel Martin to Serve as Panelist at National Institute for Excellence in Teaching Conference

Carmel Martin, assistant secretary for the Office of Planning, Evaluation and Policy Development, will serve as a panelist for a discussion on “State Education Reform and the Role of the Teacher Effectiveness” at the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching’s (NIET) annual conference on Friday, March 8 in National Harbor, Md. Martin will join several panelists to discuss how educator effectiveness fits into current reform efforts across states, which approaches are improving teaching and learning, and how federal and state policy can best support successful approaches.

The NIET seeks to ensure that there are highly skilled, strongly motivated and competitively compensated teachers for every classroom in America. NIET supports states, districts and schools in attracting, developing, supporting and retaining high-quality human capital to raise achievement levels for all students.
