Senior U.S. Education Department Officials to Address 3rd EU-US Policy Forum

U.S. Under Secretary Martha Kanter will give opening remarks at the 3rd US – EU (European Commission) Policy Forum at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. Kanter, who is heading the U.S. delegation, will discuss the importance of international cooperation in education and the need for a competitive global workforce. She will be joined for the opening remarks by the European Commission's Xavier Prats Monné, Deputy Director-General; and Jamie Merisotis, President and CEO, Lumina Foundation.

Eduardo Ochoa, assistant secretary for Postsecondary Education, will also address the forum at 9:30 a.m., providing an overview of the Administration's college completion agenda and its implications.

The three-day Policy Forum, organized by the U.S. Department of Education and the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education and Culture, is focusing on challenges faced by the global economic and financial crisis and the contribution that postsecondary education can make to help our societies emerge on stronger ground.
