Senior Official to Discuss President's 2020 College Completion Goal at Conference for Mercy Higher Education in Avon, Connecticut

Rosemarie Nassif, special advisor to the assistant secretary for postsecondary education, will participate in the Conference for Mercy Higher Education on Wednesday, June 6, in Avon, Conn. During her presentation, “The National Agenda and Faith-based Colleges and Universities,” Nassif will address the President's goal to be first in the world in college completion by 2020 and the strategies that the U.S. Department of Education is implementing to achieve that goal. In addition, she will highlight the critical role that faith-based institutions play in the academic success of students, especially in closing the achievement gap for minority and low-income students.

The Conference for Mercy Higher Education oversees 16 colleges and universities nationwide. Its mission is to uphold the values of the Sisters of Mercy while maintaining Catholic identity in a higher learning environment.
