Lynnae Ruttledge, commissioner of the U.S. Department of Education's Rehabilitation Services Administration, will address the Issues Forum for New Rehabilitation Executives sponsored by the National Rehabilitation Leaders Institute Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

Ruttledge will discuss the importance of effective leadership in vocational rehabilitation (VR), as well as current challenges to the VR program and perspectives on policy direction that will best promote employment of individuals with significant disabilities. The audience will include 25-30 new leadership and management staff from state and tribal VR programs across the country.

As commissioner, Ruttledge oversees grant programs that help individuals with physical or mental disabilities obtain employment and live more independently through such supports as counseling, medical and psychological services, job training and other individualized services.
