U.S. Under Secretary of Education to Discuss Role of Federal and State Governments in Funding Higher Education at National Conference of State Legislatures Meeting in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Under Secretary Ted Mitchell will join discussions at the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) on the varied roles that the federal government and states play in funding higher education. He will discuss the alignment between federal and state goals in higher education and the Department's outreach efforts to states as Congress considers reauthorization of the Higher Education Act. Following those brief remarks, Mitchell will continue the discussion during a roundtable that will focus on how state and federal efforts can complement one another in order to ensure that more students are able to access and complete college. Additionally, he will discuss the Department's work to make college more affordable.
