U.S. Secretary of Education to Give Remarks at the National Assistant Principals of the Year Gala

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will deliver remarks at the annual National Association of Secondary School Principals/Virco National Assistant Principals of the Year Gala at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel in Arlington, Va. Duncan will discuss the vital role that strong assistant principal leadership plays in improving all schools. He also will recognize the exemplary work of assistant principals from across the country and encourage them to add their voices to the effort to improve education, reduce opportunity gaps and accelerate progress.

The National Association of Secondary School Principals and school furniture manufacturer Virco Inc. annually honor a winner from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity schools. Selection criteria are built around collaborative leadership; curriculum, instruction and assessment; and school personalization.
