U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will give remarks, via live uplink, at the National Charter School Conference in Atlanta. He will discuss the important role of charter schools in education reform at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, June 22. Nia Phillips, chief of staff in the Office of Innovation and Improvement, will participate in a panel discussion later that afternoon at 3:45 p.m. During the “What the Feds” session, Phillips will discuss the administration’s priorities for education, charter schools and reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, also known as No Child Left Behind.
The 2011 National Charter School Conference began on Monday, June 20, and will run through Thursday, June 23. The conference is the only national gathering of the charter school movement and attended by thousands of professionals from across the country.
