U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will join a conversation with David Leonhardt, The New York Times Washington bureau chief and former columnist, at The New York Times Schools for Tomorrow conference “Virtual U: The Coming of Age of Online Education,” on Tuesday, Sept.17 at 3 p.m. at the Times Center in New York. Duncan will discuss the role of technology in learning and how it can help prepare students to compete in a knowledge-based, global economy. He will also discuss the administration’s ConnectED initiative to ensure all schools have access to high-speed Internet in the classroom.
The conference will bring together a group of 400 leaders in online education, teachers, professors and university administrators, elected officials, philanthropists, technology innovators and technology investors, as well as reporters from The New York Times and other outlets.
