U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will deliver keynote remarks at the Education Summit for Parent Leaders hosted by the National Assessment Governing Board (NAGB). Duncan will discuss the role of parents in demanding the schools their children deserve.

The summit is a daylong event that will bring together parent leaders and education experts from across the nation to focus on gaps in achievement among student groups and ways to improve learning for all students.

The summit will feature bold ideas and thought-provoking presentations about the urgent need for action from experts with a wide range of perspectives–economic, demographic, societal, national security and civil rights. In the day's afternoon hands-on workshops, attendees will explore National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) results to deepen parent leaders' understanding of student achievement data, how to ask the right questions of local educators to advance educational achievement in their communities and how to recognize rigor in the school curriculum.
