Tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 7, Secretary Duncan will join D.C. Mayor Gray and D.C. education officials at Malcolm X Elementary School @ Green and Achievement Prep Academy to announce the District’s 2013 National Assessment Educational Progress (NAEP) results for 4th and 8th graders in reading and mathematics. While at the school, Secretary Duncan and the local leaders will visit a classroom to meet with students.

Known as the “Nation’s Report Card,” the NAEP is a nationally representative, longitudinal tool for comparing student achievement in various subject areas over time. NAEP assessments in mathematics and reading are administered every two years and use the same sets of test booklets across the nation to provide a common comparative metric across all states and selected urban districts.
