Richard Culatta, director of the U.S. Education Department's Office of Educational Technology, will address Elliott Masie's Learning 2013 conference Monday in Orlando, Fla. Culatta will speak to a general session at 9:15 a.m. focusing on "Big Learning Data and Learning Innovations." Later, he will deliver remarks to smaller conference sessions: at 11:15 a.m. on "Grit & Resilience" and at 3:15 p.m. on the state of learning technology.
In his comments, Culatta will discuss how emerging technologies, such as massive open online courses (MOOCs) and Open Badges, are forcing a rethinking of traditional learning experiences. He will also discuss President Obama's ConnectED initiative and how an entirely connected K-12 system in the U.S. will shift workplace learning in the near future.
