U.S. Under Secretary of Education Ted Mitchell will speak at the CBExchange conference in Phoenix, Arizona, at 1 p.m. PT on Thursday, Oct. 20.

Mitchell will discuss the Obama Administration's efforts to improve access, affordability, and outcomes, and in particular completion, in post secondary education.

CBExchange is a conference designed to share information, answer questions and provide resources on competency-based education. The conference is an interactive workshop that aims to help attendees understand, plan or enhance competency-based education through facilitated sessions, focused on listening, learning and leading.

President Barack Obama entered office in 2009 with a comprehensive vision for improving our education system to advance our children's opportunity and success. That vision included efforts to address the dropout crisis, increase graduation rates, and ensure all students have the opportunity to complete an affordable high-quality college education.

More independent students, older students, and parents are also enrolling in college for the first time. More students are graduating college than ever before and well over 27 million college degrees and credentials have been awarded since the President took office. More students and families have access to the information they need to make the best choice about college—from easier and now earlier financial aid to the next generation of college transparency with tools like College Scorecard.
