U.S. Under Secretary of Education Ted Mitchell will speak at the Wisconsin HOPE Lab’s #RealCollege Convening in Milwaukee at 12:45 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 28.

The #RealCollege Convening is a national event focused on addressing food and housing insecurity among undergraduates.  Mitchell will talk about the Administration’s college affordability agenda and then participate in a fireside chat with Sara Goldrick-Rab, professor of Educational Policy Studies and Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After the chat, he will answer questions from the audience.

The national convening will create a forum for discussing housing and food insecurity on college and university campuses. Leading researchers will come together with nonprofit organizations, advocates, campus leaders, philanthropists, and policymakers to discuss current and potential reforms to federal and state policy, innovations led by food banks and housing authorities around the country, and creative approaches developed by faculty, students, alumni, and other campus leaders.
