U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will participate in festivities and events at the Aspen Ideas Festival taking place in Aspen, Colo. Duncan will engage with progressive ideas for education reform in a panel discussion titled “Just a Game – Or More Than a Game?” where he will discuss the role of sports in schools.
The annual festival is co-hosted by The Atlantic magazine and the Aspen Institute, a non-profit organization founded in 1950 to foster values-based leadership, encourage individuals to reflect on the ideals and ideas that define a good society, and provide a neutral and balanced venue for discussing and acting on critical issues. Every year, the festival brings together leaders and thinkers to discuss social issues such as economics, policy, environment, science, education, arts, global affairs and philosophy.
