U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will give remarks at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Education Summit—“State of the Field, State of the Art”—at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, in Washington, D.C. He will highlight the importance of ensuring access to primary schooling for the world’s children, and President Obama’s commitment to building a world-class education system in the United States. Duncan also will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the world community in the drive to increase global prosperity and security by expanding educational equality and attainment. A question-and-answer session will follow.
The summit will take place Aug. 6-8 and will bring together more than 750 USAID education specialists and partners. It will highlight “state of the field” approaches and “state of the art” best practices in improving education in the developing world.
