U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. will give remarks at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Oct. 19 about the importance of civics as part of a well-rounded education. He also will discuss civic engagement as a cornerstone of democracy and the role of schools in preparing students to be active citizens.
In addition, King will emphasize the opportunity, presented by the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), to better serve our children, and the essential role educators must play in making sure that ESSA fulfills its potential to improve outcomes for all students.
