U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan to Visit Columbus for Education Town Hall with Mayor Michael Coleman

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will join Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman on Friday, April 19, to address education stakeholders and co-host a community conversation on improving the city's education system.

At 5:45 p.m., Duncan will deliver remarks to members of the Columbus Education Commission, Columbus School Board, and state and local officials, outlining the Obama Administration's second term education agenda and highlighting the new Preschool for All initiative. Then, at 6:00 p.m., following opening remarks, President and CEO of KidsOhio.org Mark Real will moderate a panel discussion with Coleman and Duncan on education reform, followed by a question and answer session with the audience, which includes teachers, local leaders and community members engaged in education. Carol Perkins, president of the Columbus School Board, and Andy Ginther, president of the Columbus City Council, will also participate in the event.
