U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan to Visit Atlanta Friday

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will visit Atlanta on Friday, holding a town hall on early learning with Gov. Nathan Deal and Mayor Kasim Reed, followed by a press availability and speech to the National Conference of Black Mayors Annual Convention.

At 10:50 a.m., Secretary Duncan will tour classes at Boyd Elementary School, part of the Atlanta Public Schools. At 11:20 a.m., he will join Gov. Deal and Mayor Reed in a town hall where Duncan will highlight the President's proposal to expand early learning opportunities to all children, especially those from disadvantaged communities. A press availability will follow the town hall at 12:20 p.m.

At 1:30 p.m., Duncan will address the National Conference of Black Mayors Annual Convention. There, he will discuss the accomplishments of the first term and the administration’s vision for the next four years.
