U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Managing Director of the White House Council on Environmental Quality Christy Goldfuss, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Education Director Louisa Koch will honor the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools, District Sustainability Awardees, and Postsecondary Sustainability Awardees at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 3, at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C.
At the awards ceremony, Duncan will also announce the launch of the new Green Strides website (www.greenstrides.org), which features resources and webinars for all schools to move toward the pillars of the award, as well as all past honorees in a visual context.
The awardees are recognized for reducing their environmental impact, creating healthy learning environments and providing real-world sustainability education that prepares students to succeed in the 21st century.
