To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will deliver keynote remarks at a "50 Years of Struggle: Youth Driving Economics, Education and Social Change" virtual education panel Tuesday in Washington. The event is among a week-long series of activities recognizing the historic march and "I Have a Dream" speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Duncan will discuss education as the civil rights issue of our time and the progress the country has made toward providing all students with an opportunity to succeed through high-quality education.
Following his speech, a panel discussion among civil rights leaders past and present will be streamed live and available to schools nationwide at https://kapx.kaplan.com/events/mlk50-1/.
The event is sponsored by The King Center, Kaplan University and Discovery Education.
