U.S. Education Officials to Address 'Equal Access to Quality Education' Conference in New Orleans

Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Russlynn Ali will deliver the keynote address at the "Equal Access to Quality Education" conference Tuesday in New Orleans. The two-day forum will aim to promote access to quality education for all students. During her remarks, Ali will discuss why education is the civil rights issue of our generation.

On Wednesday, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education Carl Harris will deliver a luncheon speech discussing the role of equity in the Education Department’s Blueprint for Reform. Attendees will include school administrators, researchers, and other community stakeholders. The conference will offer strategies and solutions to improve access to learning opportunities, remove barriers to providing a quality education, and build networks of support to ensure civil rights for all students.
