Richard Culatta, director of the Office of Educational Technology (OET), will serve as a panelist during the Washington Post's "Bridging the Digital Divide" Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in Washington, D.C. Culatta will discuss OET activities and President Obama's ConnectED initiative. Among its goals, ConnectED aims to connect 99 percent of America's students to the Internet through high-speed broadband and high-speed wireless within five years, calling on the FCC to modernize and leverage its existing E-Rate program to meet that goal.
The forum will gather industry leaders, policy makers, and other experts to discuss ending the digital divide by focusing on the strategies and efforts taking place in the United States to bring online the tens of millions who still do not use the Internet at home, work or school. The forum is part of Washington Post Live, which hosts conferences and events featuring the Post's journalists and top-level government and business leaders discussing the most pressing issues involving Washington and the world. The events are on-the-record, open to other media and have multiple sponsors. The event will be livestreamed on Washington Post Live.
