U.S. Department of Education Senior Official to Participate in Conference that Looks at Role of Federal Government in Education

U.S. Department of Education’s Joanne Weiss will participate in a panel discussion at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research conference on Monday, May 23, in Washington, D.C. She will discuss the role of the federal government in driving school improvement. The daylong conference, titled “Carrots, Sticks and the Bully Pulpit: Sobering Lessons From a Half Century of Federal Efforts to Improve America’s Schools,” will offer a retrospective look at the federal government’s role in K-12 education over the last 50 years.
