The Rev. Brenda Girton-Mitchell, director of the Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Education, will deliver the keynote address at the 2nd Annual 2011 Parent Forum co-hosted by the Department and Chicago Public Schools. Girton-Mitchell will discuss the vital roles that parents and communities play in their children's educational growth, from 12 – 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 at the New South Shore High School in Chicago.
Parents, caregivers, educators and faith-based and neighborhood leaders from Chicago and suburban communities are expected to participate in the forum. The event will also feature workshops on federal, state and local resources for parents.
