Massie Ritsch, acting assistant secretary for communications and outreach at the U.S. Department of Education, will travel to Pennsylvania Monday where he will address education audiences in Lancaster and Bethlehem.
At 9 a.m., Ritsch will keynote the 2013 Family Involvement Conference in Lancaster, describing how the Education Department is working with states, school districts and community organizations to effectively engage partners and families to support student success. The conference will bring together in a common forum school administrators, teachers, community members and parents to interact and address issues vital to the academic success and well-being of children.
At 1 p.m., Ritsch will participate in a roundtable discussion hosted by the Bethlehem Area School District and featuring Bethlehem Superintendent Joseph J. Roy and area school leaders. Ritsch will discuss federal education policy and hear best practices and any concerns that the superintendents and administrators might have.
Ritsch oversees the Education Department’s communications, informing the public about the department’s priorities, policies and programs.
