Senior Official to Participate in Symposium Focused on Ways to Prevent Bullying and Keep Schools Safe

David Esquith, director of the Office of Safe and Healthy Students, will serve on a panel at the Governor’s Prevention Partnership symposium on Friday, Nov. 22, in Orange, Conn. Esquith will discuss ways to prevent bullying and keep schools and communities safe, as outlined in President Obama’s Now is the Time plan.

The symposium, “EMOTIONS MATTER: Developing Emotionally Intelligent Schools to Reduce Bullying, Improve Overall School Climate and Increase Student Achievement,” will bring together educators and administrators to discuss how emotional intelligence can prevent bullying and promote a positive school climate. The two-hour symposium9 to 11 a.m.is free and open to the public.
