David Esquith, director of the Office of Safe and Healthy Students, will give remarks at the 2013 Safety School Summit Thursday, Oct. 24, in Washington, D.C. He will discuss the education-related components of President Obama's Now is the Time plan to keep schools and communities safe. The summit will focus on key findings, best practices and concrete recommendations on how to make schools safe.
The summit, hosted by the Character Education Partnership, is a prelude to the 2013 National Forum on Character Education taking place Oct. 24-27 at the Washington Renaissance Hotel in downtown D.C. The forum will address the issue of school safety from six different perspectives: School Safety, Mental Health, Support from the Courts, Student Engagement, School Crisis Management, and Support from the federal government.
