Alejandra Ceja, executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics (Initiative), will give remarks and lead the first in a series of town halls on supporting migrant families and youth on Thursday, July 14, in Hillsboro, Oregon. The Initiative, in partnership with the National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association and Public Broadcasting Service will convene educators, family services, and services for migrant farm workers to hold conversations that will build understanding, learn about the needs of migrant families and develop strategies to better help migrant families transition from preschool to kindergarten.

The event is being hosted at the Oregon Child Development Coalition, one of Oregon’s leading early childhood education organizations, along with parents, students and community partners.
