John King, Senior Advisor Delegated Duties of Deputy Secretary of Education, will deliver keynote remarks at the luncheon for the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Legislative Conference on Wednesday, March 11, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia.
King will talk about need to replace the current version of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)—also known as the No Child Left Behind Act—with a law that delivers on the promise of equity and real opportunity for every child. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan has called on Congress to create a bipartisan law that gives teachers and principals the resources they need, expands high-quality preschool for families and supports schools and districts in creating innovative solutions to problems that translate into better outcomes for students.
This year’s conference will cover a range of important education topics, including ESEA reauthorization, the federal appropriations process, juvenile justice and delinquency prevention and student data privacy.
