Assistant Deputy Secretary Nadya Dabby will deliver the keynote address at the Newark-Montclair Urban Teacher Residency (NMUTR) graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. Dabby will highlight the essential role of great teachers in helping all students excel and in supporting their schools and communities as public servants.

The NMUTR program, which is funded by a $5 million federal Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP) grant, partners with Newark Public Schools to provide professional development and career opportunities for aspiring, pre-service teachers. The NMUTR program has two tracks which include a triple certification in early childhood, K-5 and teaching students with disabilities, and a middle/secondary certification in math and science. The TQP grant program supports student achievement by recruiting and developing prospective teachers through partnerships between higher education institutions, high-need school districts and schools.
