Doua Thor and Jason Tengco, executive director and deputy director, respectively, of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (Initiative), will participate in a panel at the 2016 Advancing Justice Conference on Thursday, March 31, in Los Angeles, California.
The panel – “Beyond 2016: A Blueprint for Federal Engagement with the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders,” – will highlight best practices and the Initiative’s blueprint to institutionalize its work beyond 2016. With less than a year left until the next President of the United States takes office, the panel will engage with participants on ways that current and future Administrations can engage with the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.
Other panelists include: Sefa Aina, former vice chair, President’s Advisory Commission on AAPIs; Kathy Ko Chin, member, President’s Advisory Commission on AAPIs; and Kay Ko, regional network member, White House Initiative on AAPIs.
The conference brings together AAPIs from across the U.S. to discuss common challenges and opportunities, share best practices, and find ways to work collaboratively. Attendees participate in two days of programming, including panel discussions, caucus sessions, skill and capacity building training, and networking receptions.
