Alejandra Ceja, executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics (Initiative), will deliver keynote remarks at UIC College Preparatory High School's (UIC College Prep) College Signing Night on Wednesday, June 1, at 5:30 p.m. CT.
Ceja's remarks will focus on honoring and encouraging students to do well in college and the importance of college persistence.
This will be the fifth year that UIC College Prep hosts the event and will celebrate that 193 seniors will be announcing to their families and the school community their choice colleges. The event highlights a culmination of four years of hard work from the school's scholars, and the year of dedication from the college counseling team, who work closely with families on choosing colleges, fit factors, financial aid and many other aspects. The students will also sign a pledge to reach out to their alumni counselor who will support them along the way to college graduation.
