David Johns, executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans (Initiative), will participate in a summit to help young African-American males prepare for the future on Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. To start the event, Johns will give remarks that highlight opportunities to accelerate educational excellence for African Americans. Following his remarks, he will participate in small group discussions where attendees will craft action plans and activities for African-American males of different ages.

The summit, hosted by Walmart, is designed to equip African-American men and young men with the tools and solutions for leading, giving and mentoring. It also seeks to enhance positive outcomes and eliminate or reduce negative ones for African-American males in the community.
