Ivory Toldson, executive director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (Initiative), will help announce the winners of Home Depot’s 2016 Retool Your School program on Friday, May 6, in Atlanta, Georgia. The program was established in 2010 to provide support for campus improvement projects to the nation’s HBCUs. Since the program’s inception, more than $1 million in grant money has been awarded. Toldson will join Home Depot’s Senior Marketing Manager Melissa Gray Brown in announcing the winners. Roland Martin, journalist and host of NewsOne Now on TV One, will keynote the event.

This year, the total winnings for the Retool Your School program has increased to $300,000 in grants for nine accredited HBCUs.

Last year, the founder of Retool Your School, Melissa Brown, participated on a panel discussion during the National Historically Black Colleges and Universities Week Conference.
