Senior Education Department Official to Give Remarks at the Formation Conference in Arlington, Virginia

David Johns, executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans (WHIEEAA) will give remarks at the Formation Conference in Arlington, Virginia at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 9.

Johns will discuss the Initiative’s efforts to support African American Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth including highlighting a recent White House summit to support African American LGBTQ youth and also President Obama’s efforts to support LGBTQ youth and youth of color.

The Formation Conference is an event hosted by Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., that will empower 60 black women and girls in the DC Metro area with the necessary skills and tools to either become certified peer health educators or advocates and organizers for sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice.
