U.S. Department of Education Assistant Secretary Alexa Posny, Director of the Office of Special Education Programs Melody Musgrove and Director of Educational Technology Karen Cator will deliver remarks on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at a National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE) conference in Nashville, Tenn. The conference, entitled “Composition of Connectivity,” will focus on the need for the special education leadership community to embrace technology that will better serve and help improve outcomes for students with disabilities.
At 8:30 a.m., Cator will talk about “Planning for Instruction in the 21st Century,” discuss assistive technology, a universal design for learning and highlight the National Educational Technology Plan. At 1:15 p.m., Dr. Posny will discuss “Linking to Leadership.” Immediately following Posny’s remarks, Dr. Musgrove will offer a blueprint for how the Department and NASDSE can work together toward common goals. Posny and Musgrove will conclude their session with a brief question and answer period.
